and acid resistant stainless steel with working volume 3-5 l for sterilisation in autoclave. The
fermenter comprises a glass vessel with lid in acid resistant stainless steel. The lid is sealed with a silicone O-ring and is tightened to the glass vessel by a clamp made of acid resistant
stainless steel.
The lid is equipped with bearing housing for the mechanically sealed agitator shaft and sixteen connections for electrodes and accessories with max. diameter 12 mm.
The
bearing housing can be separated from the lid and is sealed with a silicone rubber O-ring. The shaft is mounted in ball bearings and separated from the environment with two radial gasket rings
made of Viton. The agitator motor can easily be separated from the bearing housing. The motor connector part is prepared for inductive sensor for measuring of agitator speed.
The standard
design includes cooler with two baffles, pockets for heater and Pt100 sensor, heater, emptying tube, ring sparger, shaft with adjustable 6-blade impeller, inlet ports, reflux condenser, sampling
device, septum connection, holder for sterile filters and tools.
The lid and connection parts can easily be separated for cleaning. All parts in contact with the process are electropolished.
O-rings are made of silicone rubber.
The agitator can be adapted for different processes by replacing the Rushton turbine with i.e. a marine propeller.
Drive and Piping Unit
The
cables from the agitator motor, the inductive sensor and the heater are connected to the unit. It comprises a compact case with main switch, fuses, transformer, motor speed control unit, relays
and connections for dosing pumps and control unit. The Drive and Piping Unit is also equipped with a cooling valve and an air flow meter with needle valve for manual control of air flow to the
fermenter.

Control Unit
The system can be provided with the Novaferm Fermenter Microprocessor Control System for direct digital control of fermentation processes based on programmable logic
controllers from the SIMATIC S7 (Siemens) family. The modular concept allows control of fermenter systems from laboratory to industrial scale.
The standard control system includes hard- and
software for control of temperature, speed and pH and measurement of dissolved oxygen. Additional parameters on request. PC software for operator interface, but not hardware is included in the
standard package.
The system can also be provided with a basic control system with analog controls for temperature, speed, pH etc.
Sensor Kit
The standard kit contains the following:

- 1 pce pH sensor (Mettler) with cable and connector
