and acid resistant stainless steel with total volume 1,2 l and working volume 0,5-1 l for sterilisation in autoclave. The fermenter comprises a glass vessel with lid in acid resistant
stainless steel. The lid is sealed with a silicone rubber O-ring and is tightened to the glass vessel by a clamp made of acid resistant stainless steel.
The standard design includes a coated
magnetic stirrer bar, cooler, pocket for Pt100 sensor, emptying tube, sparger, inlet ports, sampling device, septum connection, one set of sterile filters and tools.
The lid and connection
parts can easily be separated for cleaning. All parts in contact with the process are electropolished. O-rings are made of silicone rubber.
The agitator can be adapted for different processes
by adding e.g. Rushton turbines or marine type propellers.
Drive Unit
The drive unit comprises a magnetic stirrer drive and heating plate. The stirring speed is manually set directly
at the unit. The heater is controlled by the external control system. The maximum heater temperature can be set with the internal limit thermostat.
Piping Cabinet
The unit comprises
a compact, table top case with main switch, fuses, connections for dosing pumps and Control Unit. The basic setup is also equipped with a cooling valve and an air flow meter with needle valve for
manual control of air flow to the fermenter.

Control Unit
The system can be provided with the Novaferm Fermenter Microprocessor Control System for direct digital control of fermentation processes based on programmable logic
controllers from the SIMATIC S7 (Siemens) family. The modular concept allows control of fermenter systems from laboratory to industrial scale.
A normal combination is to control up to four
laboratory fermenters from the same control system. The basic control system includes hard- and software for control of temperature and pH, but additions for i.e. dissolved oxygen, foam, airflow
and agitator speed can be made. PC software for operator interface, but not hardware is included in the standard package.
The system can also be provided with a basic control system with
analog controls for temperature and pH. Other instruments e.g. for dissolved oxygen, on request.
Sensor Kit
The standard kit contains the following:
- 1 pce Pt100 sensor with cable and connectors
- 1 pce pH sensor (Mettler) with cable and connector
- 1 pce Foam sensor with cable and connector
Additional sensors on request.
Pump Unit
Peristaltic pump for dosing of acid, alkali or other addition. Fix speed pump. Including glass container, tubing, sterile filter and
needles. Container, hose and needles to be sterilised in autoclave. Delivered with silicone hose diameter 6,4/3,2 mm.
